PLANTING AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE FOR PASTURES

1.) Use disc, Roto Tiller, power Rake or other means to kill or remove existing weeds and prepare a clean      seed bed.

2.) Drag area to loosen and level any hard or uneven spots if needed.

3.) Apply fertilizer at approximately 250 lb per acre (See County Extension Office for fertilization recommendation and soil testing).

4.) Apply seed at 40 to 60 lbs per acre.

5.) Drag, rake and roll to lightly cover seed so that it is not deeper than 1/4 – 1/2 inch.

6.) Apply irrigation each evening until soil is damp and germination has occurred.

7.) Irrigate newly seeded pastures every other day until grass reaches six inches.

8.) reapply fertilizer 250lbs per acre at three months (See County Extension Office for fertilization recommendation and soil testing).

Pastures: Apply 40-60 lbs per acre

Over seeding: Apply 20-30 lbs per acre

Fertilize: Three times per year with 250 lbs (See County Extension Office for fertilization recommendation and soil test
